Normally, I’d throw myself into my job just to keep my mind occupied. As you know, I recently accepted a new position. Most would not complain to have landed a position that pays more and requires less work. However, this little scenario really isn’t suiting me, especially now.
To combat the vast hours of available time during the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm, I’m making it my personal mission to explore the depths of the Internet. Please share what sites, including blogs that you read regularly. Perhaps, I’ll learn something.
The Thinker has also caused me to seriously consider one his suggestions – writing my memoirs. As he explained it:
“Some lady started a cooking blog about Julia Child. Another lady wrote a book called eat , pray love. Women buy millions of paperback copies of romance novels every year. You have a remarkable story, that is already partially written (thru your blog.)”Trust me when I say I go back and forth on this idea. Some days I think what the hell. I’ve read numerous memoirs and finish the book with “I have as good if not a better story.” Other times, I’m think I have only lived a little over 30 years and have yet to do something remarkable justifying the publication of a book.
I’m coming to you for advice as I’ve done on numerous occasions. Is this something seriously worth pursuing or just a whimsical notion?

I'm with The Thinker. Let Book 2 cover the plus 30 years.
Write it.
Write it. Its not the length in your years its the life in your years...or whatever that quote is.
I would read it. The world needs more memoirs that are funny and realistic etc. All things you can do.
If you find a literary agent, feel free to pass them my way. I toyed with the idea of publishing The Diary of a Jaded Soon-to-be Ex-Husband, but navigating the world of agents, and trying to find one that was interested in my story was impossible. I have had a lot of people tell me that it was book worthy, but just because a small handful does, it doesnt mean it can sell and turn a profit, which is ultimately the goal of any publishing house.
If you choose that route, just be aware that you will hear no more often than yes, but it only takes one yes.
I still haven't heard my yes yet
Toying with the same idea. Been approached by and agent - the problem is a) i don't write fiction and b) I'm having trouble "framing" the idea. Let us know what you decide to do!
Thank you for the comments thus far. I'm leaning towards pitching a proposal and seeing where it takes me. There is the option of self-publishing, but not sure I want to head that route. There's justification in a publisher, etc.
I'm now addicted to www.weddingbee.com
Major time-killer for those wedding planning!
